In this exhibition, we will introduce an experience in which 3D data of a product under design is displayed in front of you, and you can check its size, layout, and shape by touching it in virtual environment.
Technical Specification
This is an exoskeletal device with two torque-controllable motors positioned along the wrist joint axis.
By applying bidirectional forces to the palm, the device can display various haptic sensations, such as the sensation of touching a virtual object, the weight of the object, or the impact of an event.
It has a sufficient output of 20 [Ncm] for each motor, weighs only 350 [g], and can be used with both hands for a long time.
Since it is worn on the wrist, the palm is clear and can be used with standard controllers such as the Vive and Oculus Controllers. This can be extended to add touch to existing VR content.
It is easy to adjust and attach to hands of various sizes. As for the material, the parts that touch the skin are made of a material that does not absorb sweat, so it can be used hygienically.
